US diet

Changes in the US diet

The two pie charts explain changes in the United States people’s diet between 1990 and 2005. In general, there are no big changes in 1990 and 2005 in eating protein.

The main change was the consumption of starch. I can see that starches intake in 1990 was 22% and it almost doubled to reach 43% in 2005 of the American diet. Also, it is clear there is a steady level of eating the protein, 12% by Americans in 1990 and 2005. In 1990 the percentage of fat was 42% but after that it decreased considerably to 30% in 2005. A similar decrease took place with sugar. In 1990 it was 24% and in 2005 it fell to 15%.

As we can see, the most important changes in the US diet between 1990 and 2005 were eating more starches and less fat and sugar. The diet system got better and healthier as shown.
